Long before 9/11, a far deadlier, little-known attack from the ocean depths struck our shores, lasting three-and-a-half years and claiming 5,000 lives. Now, famed undersea explorer Bob Ballard, discoverer of the Titanic, investigates the wreck of one of the attack craft, a German submarine that lies at the bottom of the gulf just a few miles off New Orleans.

Comments about PBS NOVA: Nazi Attack on America DVD:

A gripping account of the damage U-boats created in WWII, and the fate of one boat in particular. FINALLY the doubts about the claims of the sinking of this U-boat are put to rest, through the use of technology. An excellent history lesson, told with terrific explanations and enough suspense and historical footage to keep you fascinated.

Comments about PBS NOVA: Nazi Attack on America DVD:

I was totally mesmerized. If I hadn't seen the sub and the process of getting the whole thing together by digital photos, I never would have believed it.

For me, the clearing of the name of the commander who felt he had sunk U-boat 166 made this hour-long venture too short indeed. If it is repeated, don't fail to watch! Or, even better, purchase the DVD. You won't be sorry!!!!
