The Day the 60s Died chronicles May 1970, the month in which four students were shot dead at Kent State. The mayhem that followed has been called the most divisive moment in American history since the Civil War. From college campuses, to the jungles of Cambodia, to the Nixon White House, The Day the 60s Died takes us back into that turbulent spring 45 years ago.

Comments about PBS The Day the 60s Died DVD:

Focuses on the murders at Kent State, and claims it as was a victory for Nixon and conservative movement. Bizarre new low for PBS.

Comments about PBS The Day the 60s Died DVD:

Historically accurate and presented extremely well. It's tough to objectively present this turbulent time in our history but PBS did exactly that and from many, many angles. The protestors, politicians, newscasters, soldiers, National Guard, citizens and other views put us right smack in the middle of Kent State, Jackson State, Washington, Cambodia and a split nation. A very powerful and educational presentation.

Serious students of the 1960s must see this program. Innocence lost and conservatism gained.

Comments about PBS The Day the 60s Died DVD:

28 July 2015

The program presents the controversial image of the late 1960s and the emergence of 'Silent Majority' that transformed and promoted American conservatism. The end of the anti-war movement signaled the opening of a retrenched effort of muting activism. Lessons learned from that period after abolishing the draft ensured a future of no further mass anti-war protest. Individuals today should guard against complacency.
