On November the 11th, billions of miles from Earth, a spacecraft orbiter and lander will do what no other has dared to attempt: land on the volatile surface of a comet as it flies round the sun at 41,000 mph. If successful, it could help peer into our past and unlock secrets from our very origins. The stakes couldn't be higher.

"to catch a Comet

By scientist wanna be

Comments about PBS To Catch a Comet DVD:

this is one of the best videos for children to see. It not only demonstrates the incredible feat, but teaches children the value of making group decisions. The interaction of scientists in three different locations in the world is a valuable lesson on deductive reasoning. Cannot stess enough the importance of this documentary

Comments about PBS To Catch a Comet DVD:

I was blown away that a group of people could send this tiny speck into space some 3,000,000+ miles and land it on a 3 mile chunk of rock as it was moving. The calculations involved must have been staggering. One of my favorite PBS Shows of all time.

Great, all the way up until the end

Comments about PBS To Catch a Comet DVD:

The production quality is great. The video leads you up until the actual landing. Unfortunately the video leads you to believe you will see the complete mission... it counts down to 1 day until landing...then... POOF the video ends abruptly. Big disappointment considering the probe did actually land and there is more story to tell.
