England's Royal Ballet offers a magical interpretation of the beloved world of Beatrix Potter and her timeless creatures: Peter Rabbit, Jemima Puddle-Duck, Tom Thumb, the Cunning Fox, and many more. With sets echoing the beautiful scenery of the Lake District, the production combines the artistry of Britain's most talented ballet dancers with the essence of Potter's classic children's stories into a rare experience.

Comments about PBS Tales of Beatrix Potter Starring the Royal Ballet DVD:

My two- and three-year-old granddaughters were rapt: fine "storytelling" was on offer, though not a word was spoken. It was dance and drama all the way. Gorgeous shots of English countryside faded into sets that appeared to be part of the landscape. Altogether very clever staging . You could almost forget that dancers from the Royal Ballet were Jeremy Fisher and Peter Rabbit -- but then there were those ballet shoes peeping out! Really a tour de force. No Photoshop shenanigans and other production tricks: this film was made "back in the day"(late '70's?) and has a grand yeoman-like earnestness and sweetness to it.
