While not a perfect movie or perhaps even a great work of art, as entertainment this version of the Orient is brilliant entertainment. And true while this film does not have the big Hollywood budget it is an example of excellent composition and cinematography. When you add together the story (truly beyond its time), the wonderful cinematography, and the sheer delight of an hour and half well spent, this is 5 star entertainment even if you know the ending.

This was the very best mystery solved by Poirot ! I just started watching Masterpiece Mystery episodes and ordered this one because all of the episodes were so good. Intellectual and captivating!

All the new Poirots have had a great disservice done to them by shortening the length to 90 minutes instead of the former approx. 120 min. Shame. This version much too dark visually, contains annoying, uncomplementary music, laughably fake-looking long shots of the train in motion, and horribly mis-cast actors, especially the ridiculously mousey villain who provokes feelings of wanting to kick sand in his face instead of shivers. The one saving grace is the interesting struggle Poirot has with his conscience. Anyone who gives this 4-5 stars just has NO idea.

This was simply wonderful. The picture quality is simply outstanding and the combination of the movie "Murder on the Orient Express" followed by the tour of the Orient Express hosted by David Suchet puts the finishing touches to a classic Agatha Christie mystery!!!
