Presented by anatomist Joy Reidenberg and veterinarian Mark Evans, SEX IN THE WILD is a four part series that explores the reproductive behaviors of the animal kingdom. Focusing on four species - elephant, dolphin, kangaroo and orangutan - the series takes an in-depth look at how these animals find, fight for, and woo the opposite sex. It also explores how they mate, give birth, and raise their young in extreme environments.

Comments about PBS Sex in the Wild DVD:

Sex in the Wild was completely new. The information, the use of graphics overlaid on the photo of the animal, the follow-up with real-life action... The whole series was so perfectly organized that it was fascinating, fun, and informative.

What a creative idea for a nature series.

Sex in the Wild DVD

Comments about PBS Sex in the Wild DVD:

I found this video to be fantastic. It was full of surprises for me. I had no idea of how different the methods necessary for conception are for the various species in comparison to each other and to humans. Different species adapt their methods of procreation relative to anatomy, birth concerns and to their environment. Each of the four programs moves right along and shows the differences with biologically close species. For instance, kangaroo sex is described and contrasted with that of other marsupials. I learned a lot by watching these episodes and, in fact, watched the entire series twice in a row! Excellent!
