Mystery buff must-have masterpieces

If you want to lose (and find) yourself in English life between the world wars then the excellently crafted novels of Dorothy Sayers are just the ticket. These beautiful adaptations of two of her finest mysteries are sure to please even the most demanding of her fans and should send those unacquainted with her works running to the library. Ian Carmichael IS Lord Peter Wimsey. The other actors perform splendidly as well in bringing Sayers wonderfully colorful characters to life. Buy it.

Carmichael is very comfortable in the role. Be sure to view the bonus interviews as he talks about the series and interesting insights into all of the books that were in this series. Love having the Dorothy L Sayers complicated mysteries so well done.

Two classic Dorothy Sayers mysteries are found in this excellent portayal by Ian Carmicharl. Clouds of Witness is the founding story (though no the first) which introduces the Wimsey clan and centers on the trial of the Duke of Denver, Lord Peter's elder brother, for the murder of his sister's fiancee.

The Unpleasantness at the Bellona Club touches on the horrors of post traumatic illness after World War I, while posing the question - when did the corpse die? A matter of inheritance dogs Sir Peter, who is trying to prove the innocence of an aqauintance.

Dorothy Sayers humor shines through Carmichael's portrayals at all times as well as her concern for social issues. Terrific stories with a great acting cast and wonderful productions.

The adaptions of Dorothy Sayers book are done beautifully, using her sharp 'veddy english' language of the 30's. If you love her books, you will love this series
