On April 4, 1968, Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. was shot and mortally wounded. American cities were engulfed in chaos and fear. Despite the violence raging across the country, Robert F. Kennedy made a campaign appearance in an African-American neighborhood, delivering a moving, extemporaneous plea for peace and reconciliation, a talk that eventually would be regarded as one of the great political speeches of the twentieth century.

So Wonderful to Watch

Comments about PBS A Ripple of Hope DVD:

I have watched this video 3 times with friends and family. When I was fifteen I fell in love with the image of Robert Kennedy and although I couldn't vote I was on board to see him become President of the United States. I cried when I found out he had been killed and to this day I have never felt so passionate about a candidate. Watching this video only affirms why. He was a man for the people, who loved poetry and his family. Of course, he, like Martin Luther King, was much too fine to actually be a part of this
society, too good. These tragedies were inevitable. I could only wonder what the two of them would say about the hatred and separation in this country today. Gentlemen, we surely need you.

Comments about PBS A Ripple of Hope DVD:

We just watched this documentary on 13.2 KERA World...it is perfect. I remember those times, and this work illuminated the details and great loss to our country...from 1968 to present day...caused by the deaths of these three special people...Martin and John and Bobby. And the power of Bobby's words conveying Martin's message, is a lesson we need to remember.

Truly Outstanding

Comments about PBS A Ripple of Hope DVD:

This captured perfectly the compassionate and gentle spirit of Robert Kennedy, who sought to bring unity to an America deeply divided by violence and prejudice. It also showed his courage in daring to deliver this speech despite the warnings that violence could happen, which was very real. He was determined to do what was right, not convenient.
