Landmark Musical/Energy/Quality

I missed seeing this on Broadway when I was there the last month of its run. i was extremely grateful to find this excellent 'capturing' of the musical from Spike Lee. This is where either performance is heading or Broadway just lucked upon - from the creative minds of Stew, Heidi Rodewald and under the tutelage of the Public Theatre and George Wolfe. The extras were great and the 'last show' energy is absolutely amazing. This is as close to seeing it or being in something like this as I can imagine -- and you get the close-ups of these fantastic actors in the moment!
I teach theatre at a diverse and extremely rigorous academy. Although the material is adult, depending on the clearance of my administration, I'd like to share the magic of this 'real' and transformative new and original musical to excite them about the 'performance' art forms!

Engrossing Performance

I have now purchased 2 copies of Passing Strange for myself and my stepson, after seeing it by chance on PBS a few months ago. The music and story line is incredibly powerful, tracing the life journey of a young man trying to find himself. Spike Lee and the cast do an amazing job filming a stage production, with energy, emotion, raw power and humor that draws you in and makes you feel like you are in the theater.

Spell-binding!!!

Watched this production last night and was transported into the Belasco theatre along with the audience. It is definitely a must-see, but having been produced by Spike Lee, that is a given.
The most moving play/musical that I have ever seen.
