Frogs have been hopping the planet for more than 350 million years; evolving into some of the most wondrous, diverse and beloved animals on earth. Suddenly, they're slipping away. Some say it's the greatest extinction since the dinosaurs. Ecosystems are beginning to unravel and medical cures are vanishing. It's a global crisis, mobilizing scientists around the world to stem the tide, before the next frog crosses the thin green line.

Comments about PBS Nature: Frogs: The Thin Green Line DVD:

This episode of 'Nature' reviews what is known about the global decline of amphibians that has been occurring over the past decade or so. The episode takes the viewer on a journey from the temperate mountains of California to the Central American rainforest as it follows teams of scientists investigating the possible causes, and subsequent significance, of the decline - and in some unfortunate cases, loss - of amphibians in a variety of ecosystems. This episode provides a window into science at its best, as biologists scramble to solve a complex, real-world problem of saving amphibians from what increasingly seems to be an unfortunate fate...

Heard of it, never knew the depth of it.

Comments about PBS Nature: Frogs: The Thin Green Line DVD:

Very good example of what man does to nature will come back on man kind; albeit such a small creature, what it's showing us about our polluting the environment via discarding materials that can change their and our genetics, even through disposition of Pharmaceuticals.
The later of which really surprised me. Thanks for your investment in these issues. TLC

Frogs: The Thin Green Line

Comments about PBS Nature: Frogs: The Thin Green Line DVD:

I would like the give the DVD five stars but did not because I was somewhat disappointed with the video quality of the Dub. Otherwise I have not seen such a wonderfully complete account of the world amphibians and the serious trouble they are facing. If we don't collectively act to turn around the dead end course we are facing we will be following their path of extinction.

Amphibians are beautifully creatures worthy of our protection. Start by adopting a local pond or wetland or make your home frog friendly by not using pesticides or building a small pond. No one wants a silent spring.

Rachel Carson had it right all along.
