I saw the first vidio with Jim Brandberg on the Island studing the wolves have a picture of them with a cub that is when I fell in love with the white wolf my love for all wolves consumes most of my life but the hardship of living on that island and hunting musk ox for living. Can only be matched by the northern Buffalo Wolf and their exsistence in a enviroment almost as harsh as bad as living on Ellesmere Island when you consider that they have to do a couple of months in complete darkness. These animals cannot be allowed to disappear from the earth anywhere they are our teachers on how to be a famliy. I live in the desert southwest with the Mexican Grey Wolf who is on the brink and have the pleasure of being able to hear the joy of a Wolf howling in the wild

This is by far one of the best nature DVDs I have ever seen. I originally saw the program on a local PBS station, and then had two other viewings on other stations. I just had to have this DVD for my personal collection; actually it was the impetus for buying my first ever DVD player. The photography is outstanding and I am still trying to figure out how it was done. Gold star to PBS for showing this and to Nature for producing.

Pure nature - no human narrative. Along with the gyrfalcon and white wolves, there are snowy owls, arctic fox, waterfowl aplenty, and snowshoe hares. The musical score is lovely. This is nature and PBS at it's best.
