I have not seen before.

oriented to his (uninteresting) private life
no sense of the context for any work
far too little exploration of the patronage
only the extant works which photograph well are included

Excellent story of this incredible artist given the limitations of his time period, Augustus was the best in the world in the art of sculpture. This is a must see video.

The first-rate videography of this DVD brings each sculpture seemingly within hands reach, enabling the viewer to see the rich detail of each work. Traveling to see these works of Saint-Gaudens in person - I have seen two - is well worth the time and treasure expended, and brings an even greater appreciation of the artist, and of the quality of the DVD. This is an award winning work, and I hope it will be recognized as such. Good Job, PBS!
