In this follow up to the groundbreaking film The New Asylums, FRONTLINE examines what happens to the mentally ill when they leave prison and why they return at such alarming rates. Comments about PBS FRONTLINE: The Released DVD:

Mental health professionals know that the stories presented in this video are all too true and all too common. There are many individuals acoss the country with serious mental illness who, like the ones highlighted, have no better options for their care than homeless shelters and prisons. What this video does an excellent job of is showing the real people who are "inside" the symptoms of their mental illness. It makes a compelling case that our present systems are broken and need a complete overhaul in order to better provide for these people.

A look at an important subject....

Comments about PBS FRONTLINE: The Released DVD:

We all need to be made aware of the conditions of the, at times, defenseless men and women that become caught up in the jails of our country. Surely
they all, we all....deserve a more humane course of
justice.
This is a must see for anyone concerned with the way our mentally ill are treated and looked upon.
