Everything a Documentary Should Be

This film portrays WWII from just about every angle imaginable. It is an emotional film, evoking anger, tears, and joy in several spots. But throughout, it evokes the overwhelming sense of how great a task was undertaken by that generation and how right we are to celebrate and memorialize their successes. A wonderful job by Ken Burns, once again, at just plain getting it right. Whatever your perspective of WWII is, prepare for it to be changed by this film.

I can not believe that this has not been rated. I do break it out from time to time to watch it again. This is an excellent documentary on the lives of people from four
4 towns in america following them through their journeys of WWII.
I can not stress the need for our children to be allowed to view this so they can understand the reasons for our participation in this event. I am a baby boomer and never heard the stories directly from my father or uncles due to theirs and others inability to share what they saw. I asked my dad if he had been watching when it was being aired and he wanted to know why "I have already seen it".
I recommend this to anyone that enjoys true documentaries on American history.
