Comments about PBS NATURE: Leave it to Beavers DVD:

Wonderful footage makes us realize how very crucial this creature is and how foolish mankind can be...almost killing them off in the name of profits from their skins. Vital to an understanding of their contributions to our river systems and wetlands in general. A must-see, especially good for children but also for us unknowing adults!

Comments about PBS NATURE: Leave it to Beavers DVD:

Both of us were astounded by how much we did not know about beavers other than the obvious cliches we heard as kids. We thought we were so much more informed than we turned out to be. This DVD is not only fascinating, but it strikes us that the bigger story is how recklessly we settled the New World, blindly destroying what had taken centuries to build. Thereafter, we made war on the very creatures that built the land to the point where it was worth settling upon. Thank heaven we are waking up now and taking steps to reclaim a partnership with the beaver to rebuild our wetlands, preserve water sheds and the life it engenders. And, not incidentally, our lives. This outstanding story about a common animal with an uncommon history and importance in our ecological past and future is a vitally important story and to that end, we are giving this film to all our grandchildren.
