I had to purchase a copy of this after watching it on PBS. The characters are portrayed excellently and my favorite was the villainous Quilp. So very enjoyable to watch!

This movie is extremely well done and an authentic representation of the book. True early Dickens -- dark gloomy setting, complex and beautifully crafted characters, tightly concealed and slowly revealed backstory, the juxtaposition of poverty and greed. Extremely well done, the actors are amazing, the casting fabulous, the production as perfectly detailed as any Masterpiece classic. Couldn't stop watching it and haunted by it for days!

Masterpiece Classic has done it again. No movie can ever perfectly reproduce the intricacies of such a classic novel, but Masterpiece seems to go to a lot of trouble to be as true to the book as possible. This presentation was outstanding, constantly entertaining, and I highly recommend it!
