Comments about PBS NOVA: Dogs and More Dogs DVD:
Good to episode to convice people not to get a dog for the job they want for and to get the one that is right for them. Also, to convice people to stop breeing dogs just for show and not to inbreed. This will go well with the episode of Nature is also about dogs and even give some of the same examples like the foxes and meeting dogs at a garbage dump and also shows that dogs did not evolve from adopted baby wolves. I did not know about the kind of dogs that ancient Egyptians owned which were featured on here.
Comments about PBS NOVA: Dogs and More Dogs DVD:
I found it extremely interesting and informing to learn about the various theories of how canines became domesticated. It's something I always wondered about. I had some notions on my own but after watching this video the range of possibilities got wider. This was educational indeed.
Comments about PBS NOVA: Dogs and More Dogs DVD:
I teach science to high school students. I have used this video as a wrap up to teaching my genetics unit and the introduction to my evolution unit. The students are fully attentive when I play the video. This show is a nice mix of showcasing dogs and giving us some good science about how our furry friends came to be who they are today.
Comments about PBS NOVA: Dogs and More Dogs DVD:
Dogs picked us but we changed them profoundly in just 10,000 years. The DNA science behind this show (done by a Swedish grooup of scientists I believe) is the same that was used to create the "Journey of Man" program on PBS. This program shows the profound effect that humans can have on this planet. Folks who like this should watch "Journey of Man" and "Pig Bomb". I will let viewers draw their own conclusions but in my view these programs, built on sound science, have profound implications on things Political, Socialogical and Religous.

I teach Animal Behavior in a high school. I have shown this DVD every year since it came out. The kids love it, they learn a lot. Its a great mix of science and cute dogs, and perfectly accurate.
