In this day of political correctness, not only hasn't anyone become more sensitive, less prejudiced, or even more polite, nor have race relations improved; the exact opposite has happened. Political correctness is actually the opposite of the quickest way to this goal. It was not even designed to give progress to truly oppressed peoples. This dude actually had it right. He was a human with HUE and all MAN. While our president is busy trying to appease the wrongdoers of this nation at the expense of those who got him elected; this dude never sold out. I love Petey Greene and all he stood for, and I wished he had the chance to run for president and WIN, and not get shot. This is the kind of thing that could finally heal this country.

Every now and again a documentary comes along that provokes the mind in the right direction. "The Truth of Petey Greene" does just that. The human experience is riddle with struggle, but we have the power to use those struggles as Greene did to serve others. Society is full of people willing to provide information in the most sensitive manner. Petey Greene gives us the truth and we cannot help both to appreciate and receive it despite the fact it is given to us in the most politically incorrect fashion. Is uncompromising truth better than delicate truth? You be the judge.

When it aired on PBS, it made the movie "Talk to Me" look like a book report. I kind of remember the Petey Greene show briefly on BET, just before I went to college in 1983. I loved watching his brass and real take on issues no one else would touch. What we'd do to have a Petey Greene today...great teaching tool!
