This movie explains how we got into this mess completely. They went back to the the Presidents that spent and the promises made, then highlights when the promises had to be adjusted. It's important to see who listened to their advisers and who didn't. Well paid advisers are hard to find!

It's about time we had a concise and truly objective recounting of the bad accounting. To Forrest Sawyer: Well done, my friend! You did a commendable job of distilling this incredibly complex issue, in historical context, into a digestible hour of television. That footage of the people in the "room with an undisclosed location near the White House", though cursory, was pretty cool. "We" out here don't know that room exists... but we've definitely been wondering how it was all happening, the massive loans, and from whom, on what collateral. You could have spent a bit more time on that, and a bit more time in educating a majority of Americans on what their taxes are actually FOR -- explaining WHY we MUST pay hefty taxes IF we are going to sustain a luxurious lifestyle in this country. (You know, this is never really TAUGHT to kids at any point through high school, and they don't get it at college if they're not economics majors!). You did a fabulous job, too, of homing in on the unfathomable risk we are signing off on when we secure these loans. Where's it headed? Well, it doesn't look very encouraging from an economic perspective. It's really quite scary. And that's about where you had to leave it, for the moment. But I think you did well to subtly gloss it all with a shine of hope -- because there really IS hope, and I'm convinced that it outranks despair in this country today, on 25 March 2009. Please consider doing this piece again, at the end of Obama's term(s). We don't know where we'll be then, but wherever it is, your current piece will serve as an excellent sounding board. Way to go, man!
