This tells the very compelling historical victory of Haiti leading the world in overthrowing slavery. It provided a very concise overview of the Haitian Revolution and left me wanting more information but in a good way. Outside of this video, I never heard the story of Haiti from a victorious perspective. It also explains that Haiti has been burdened by many years of fee$ to France. The will, courage and resilience of Haitian people came through. I would recommend this for young and old alike. It has inspired me to conduct more of my own research on this important topic.

This special documentary chronicles the events leading to the Haitian Revolution (which was really called Saint-Domingue) the principle players, and finally how the most powerful European and American powers tried unsuccessfully to destroy this tiny Island's bid for freedom. It explains why Haiti is treated abysmally by America today. For anyone interested in political and social history.

Good documentary and visual information along with interviews with writers and historians. Would like to have seen more depiction of history from Haitian artists, especially artists who painted historical scenes. Would like to have known the name of the plantation owners who freed Toussaint Louverture. Now I have to do more research.
