Alzheimer's disease is a progressive and ultimately fatal brain disorder that ravages a person's memory and identity, and can cripple the families left as caregivers. More than 5 million Americans suffer from Alzheimer's, but those numbers are about to rise dramatically, and a frightening public health crisis now looms, threatening to bankrupt the American health system, economy, and spirit.

Excellent overview and call to action

By Retired Nurse

Comments about PBS Alzheimer's Disease: Facing the Facts DVD:

This video is the most comprehensive overview of Alzheimer's disease, the challenge it presents to families, and the need for increased research to find help for those afflicted by it that I have seen. Thank you for putting together a personal, yet non-emotional presentation that informs and challenges the public to support research. You presented a clear picture of this horrible disease in a respectful, understanding way that makes it possible to watch without feeling like an emotional wreck at the end. Thanks for also presenting hope.

Comments about PBS Alzheimer's Disease: Facing the Facts DVD:

As a caregiver, I found this documentary to be insightful, accurate and persuasive. If more researach funding is not given to cure this deadly disease, our national medical costs will soar uncontrollably. This video also explores the human and emotional costs. Everyone should see it!

Very Interesting!!!

Comments about PBS Alzheimer's Disease: Facing the Facts DVD:

I am a 25 year old female and I watched "Alzheimer's Disease; Facing the Facts" and I found it very interesting. My reason for watching it was because I have a 93 year old grandfather, that is in pretty good health, but I just wanted to know what to watch out for, when it comes to AD. My mother sometime asks me the same thing 5 minutes apart and that also makes me wonder sometimes...but the program was very educational

Beautifully, beautifully done

Comments about PBS Alzheimer's Disease: Facing the Facts DVD:

I had the pleasure of watching the program last night on my local public television station. It was beautifully done; you can tell it was a labor of love on the part of the producers. To characterize the program, I would say that this is a poignant but not foreboding look at Alzheimer's and the effects this disease has on those who not only have the disease but those who care for the afflicted. For those who have not experienced the disease, it is a moving, accurate and unflinching window into the collective lives of those who are most certainly living with Alzheimer's and facing the facts every day.
