Understandably a movie or show with a love story has to have some conflict, but one such as this doesn't come by as often as it should. Although I disagree with Angel Clair's decision to leave his new bride, after he told her his confession of almost the same magnitude, I love this ...show and could not stop myself from watching it online over and over again.

An excellent story and a great film.

While PBS did a marvelous job making the movie the story is haunting, tragic and depressing. It will hold your attention, but plan on walking away feeling as though you have been hit in the stomach. I have had this DVD for many years and have only watched it twice. I know Charles Dickens writes tragic tales, but the endings are generally uplifting. This one simply is anything but.

This was so interesting

Comments about PBS Tess of the D'Urbervilles DVD:

I found this DVD very interesting. It certainly shows the other side of reality for women during that period of time. Things weren't all pretty dresses with an easy life as so many other movies show. This is probably what many, many women had to endure. It gives a real look at life and the double standard of that time.

Comments about PBS Tess of the D'Urbervilles DVD:

I gave this as a Christmas gift. The lady had seen it on PBS-Portland, OR. She was absolutely estatic to receive it and kept going over the content of it. So I took that to be a 5 star.
