Photojournalist and documentarian David Adams leads this extraordinary adventure through Central Asia, following in the footsteps of Alexander the Great. Adams journeys 1,500 miles along the Oxus River, exploring the civilizations that predated the Macedonian conqueror's arrival. Gorgeously filmed, Adams' travels reveal surprising insights about this corner of the world before it was touched by western civilization.

Extraordinary, captivating and tenacious

Comments about PBS Alexander's Lost World DVD:

For a common man like me with scant knowledge of history, I became both immersed and engrossed in Alexander's exploits gaining insites into early Greek and Persian Empires. What fascinated me particularly was how changing climactic influence ultimately determined the shifting balance of power. David's quest in Nthn Afganistan
Is not only testament to both his Historical and geographical knowledge, but as a presenter , he showed enormous courage and great bravery in putting his own life at risk. In summary, Awesome and compelling viewing.
