This documentary is ablaze with the vibrant colors of the profusion of canvases van Gogh painted in the last two years of his life. In 1888, the artist left Paris, where he had spent the previous two years sharing an apartment with his younger brother Theo, an art dealer. Vincent had not had any success selling his work and the sibling relationship had become strained on account of his awkward personality.

Comments about PBS In the Footsteps of Van Gogh DVD:

We readers and media viewers have known the "Van Gogh Story" all of our lives. And via lives of those who lived before us. I happened to see this film on late night NPR, and as an artist, I want to applaud the producers, editors, and Cumberbatch (sorry about spelling) for getting inside the soul and the mind of that man who changed art history. If I'm wrong and you are not selling the
Cumberbatch intrepretation, then never mind.
