Comments about PBS The Rape of Europa DVD:
A real "eye opener" The program goes into such exquisite detail even though with horrifying pictures of man's inhumanity. Bought one for myself a couple of years ago and a new one recently for a friend who traveled with us to Europe whose interest in art should after seeing this remarkable dvd appreciate what was returned.
Comments about PBS The Rape of Europa DVD:
Extensive research done for and use of vintage footage and still pictures in this documentary is most impressive. It documents the extent of the "taking", goes into the removal of art from private citizens, and gives a sense of art still missing after over 65 years. A very sad commentary beyond the lives lost during WW II. No one in the history of the world caused more human suffering and heartbreak.
Comments about PBS The Rape of Europa DVD:
The historicity and actual documentation by archival footage of stolen national and personal treasures of art taken by gangs of men who considered themselves legitimate agents of a bona fide government is overwhelming to the conscience of men.
Comments about PBS The Rape of Europa DVD:
This is a beautifully constructed chronicle of yet another Nazi horror and the response of many individuals to mitigate or prevent damage to some of civilization's most priceless treasures. I hope it appears often on television -- it won't be seen in high schools or universities because it documents heroic actions by individuals associated with the U.S. military.
