In 1950, Russian and American fighters clashed over Korea in the fastest dogfights ever seen. It was the world's first jet war, pitting the American F-86 Sabre against the Soviet MiG-15, the two most advanced planes of their day. The heart of the air campaign was MiG Alley, a strip of airspace along the Korean-Chinese border. NOVA puts viewers in the cockpit to experience the danger and drama of MiG Alley.

husband fathers fighter pilot

Comments about PBS NOVA: Missing in MiG Alley DVD:

my husband robert shaw was in the army air corps in pilot training from 1952-53; he said he was in training to replace the pilots in the korean war; but by the time he was trained, war wound down so he wasn't called into that duty. after watching this story i realized that had he been even 1 year older he may have had a different fate! instead he went on to father two great sons, one of which just retired off f-15's maitai unit hawaii!

Comments about PBS NOVA: Missing in MiG Alley DVD:

This is the story of my brother Captain Troy
Gordon Cope, shot down over China Sept 16, 1952. In 2005 they found his remains of the crash and returned them to the U.S.A. DNA test with my other brother Major Carl Cope proved the identity.
