The Truth About What We Do

By RobNunn

Comments about PBS FRONTLINE: The Undertaking DVD:

With so much negative press about every aspect of life, it is truly refreshing to see such a fine documentary of a sensitive profession. As I watched this I felt the emotions of the families and the directors. I too, am a funeral director and have been for 25 years. I too, have buried a loved one. It is a lot different being on the receiving end rather than the giving end. Thank you PBS for doing such a fine job on our profession.

Comments about PBS FRONTLINE: The Undertaking DVD:

The Lynches are a family whose tenderness and gentility changed my perspective on the nature of funeral arrangements. Their bittersweet sense of responsibilty to the community and the individuals they serve is to be admired.

Outstanding Program

Comments about PBS FRONTLINE: The Undertaking DVD:

We viewed this program in our Lutheran congregation and found it to be enormously helpful. It is affirming of traditional funderal practices and rites that truly help the grieving. Especially insightful were the comments on viewing the body of the deceased to help the grieving process and allow us to experience the reality death. A person doesn't simply vaporize; he or she actually dies.

It also prompted a number of people to make plans for their funerals and file a copy with the church.

Truly wonderful people

Comments about PBS FRONTLINE: The Undertaking DVD:

Truly wonderful people appear in this film. I use it with my Death and Dying classes (high school seniors) and they are deeply moved by Nevada Verrino's ability to speak about her beloved little boy in his life and in his death. The film is poetic in its depiction of love and loss. Thank you Mr. Lynch! High school and college students should all see this film.
