A Chef's Life is one of the best tv shows I have
ever seen. Not only does it have real life
drama but it has really good recipes at the end
of the show. Since each show has a theme there
are all types of recipes. I especially like how
Vivian Howard talks with people who have used
these recipes for decades within their own families. If you want to watch a show that is interesting and informative then A Chef's Life is
a good choice. It is a refreshing breath of air compared to many shows currently on tv.

This has more to do with the show on PBS...than her DVD's.
I find her attractive with a lilting southern accent.
BUT...the positives end there.
I find her condescending in her speech and attitude.
When her husband mentions he had his hair cut...her only snide remark is "I wish I had the time to do that" What a dig.
She seems insufferable to work with or for.

Comments about PBS A Chef's Life with Vivian Howard: Season One Part 1 DVD:

This series isn't just about innovative cooking, it's also about a chef, back home, who uses locally grown foods in season, in new and daring ways (Ranch Ice Cream). You see the stress that not only Chef Vivian and husband Ben go though in the day to day hurdles of running a restaurant in a depressed area, but those of the numerous staff trying not to get things wrong.Watch it for many reasons!

Comments about PBS A Chef's Life with Vivian Howard: Season One Part 1 DVD:

This young lady and her husband epitomize the best of America. Have a dream? Go for it. Encounter difficulties along the way? Hang tough, work through it. Have friends who produce great fresh ingredients you can use? Take them with you, synergize. Have an inexperienced staff? Lead, teach. Have a spouse? Support each other.

The creativity of the menus and food preparation is a beauty to behold; although I am not a cook, I love a good meal, especially one with a creative twist. The film is genuine and honest, not phony, snooty, cutesy, or fake. Good old fashioned American knowhow on display.

Comments about PBS A Chef's Life with Vivian Howard: Season One Part 1 DVD:

Chef Vivian Howard has really provided insight to the joys and pains of opening, reopening (after a horrible kitchen fire) of their restaurant Chef and the Farmer in St. Kinston, NC.

On a personal level she introduces us to members of the community and for those unfamiliar with these parts of North Carolina, it's true and real.

Her no nonsense approach to cooking, managing her staff (with her husband of course), being a mom of gorgeous twins (boy and girl) and watching her parents, you really get the feeling that she's wide open and willing to share. I have both DVDs and this is a must have series for your DVD library!
