After the Pearl Harbor attack, Ben Kuroki volunteered for the U.S. Army Air Corps. He would become the first Japanese-American war hero, surviving 58 missions as an aerial gunner. Between tours of duty he found himself at the center of controversy; a lone spokesman against the racism faced by the thousands of Japanese Americans.

I worked with Paul Hughes who flew on Sad Saki with Ben. I had heard his incredible story before the DVD, but it was great to see the documentary.

Comments about PBS Most Honorable Son DVD:

I found this documentary to be very informative and well presented. It would be great to see more of this type of experiance, so narrow minded people with a predjudice can see that it takes ALL Americans to achieve inportant goals in life.

The BEST documentary I have ever seen!

Comments about PBS Most Honorable Son DVD:

I have watched A LOT of WWII documentaries. I can honestly say that this is the best one I have ever seen. This story embodies so many aspects of WWII on all fronts. Ben's story of determination and heroism against all odds is heart wrenching. The production of this film is fantastic. This needs to be made into a feature film (are you listening Steven & Tom?) Thank you PBS! Daniel

Marvelous & Inspiring Story!

By B-24 Man

from Sussex, New Jersey

Comments about PBS Most Honorable Son DVD:

A rare glimpse into the life of a Japanese-American caught up in both the patriotic furvor, as well as the discrimination against Japanese-Americans during WW2. Ben Kuroki's achievements were remarkable, and his sincerity and candor in the interview are an inspiration. Along with the splendid interviews, the archival footage was indeed rare and accurate. BRAVO!
