I have seen this documentary about three or four times and each time I wish that I could see it again. I don't why it entertains me so completely;I don't even like pumpkins. I am so impressed at these gifts of God and their caretakers.

Absolutely charming story of those obsessed with growing huge pumpkins. The pumpkins do nothing BUT grow - they are not for eating or carving. The growers feel about them like the rest of us feel about our children or pets. Great fun and for those of us who are city people - great insight into the grower mentality. ENJOY!

We were both tired but could not stop watching this dramatic documentary. Men protecting their pumpkins like children walking too close to the edge of a drop-off. Women ready to shoot varmints and set 900 mousetraps to safe-guard their pumpkin babies. The stress wore us out but we could not turn away from the TV screen until the very exciting end when one happy man -- trying to hide his feelings -- won the weight contest. The background music was heart-warming and hilarious. The slow shots of a man staring like Clint Eastwood into his green leaves, priceless. An old man disregarding his own health in order to measure his pumpkin was breathtaking. The hard days of watering, pulling off cucumber slugs, lovingly polishing each inch of pumpkin skin. We laughed out loud so much we started coughing & had to drink water to calm down. It's the best documentary I've ever seen & I watch everything on public television! And in addition, we are ourselves serous gourd artists. We buy them from No. California where the intense heat creates huge gourds, bigger than basketballs. We turn them into magazine holders and giant bird homes. So have real respect for the men and women who grow those enormous pumpkins. Thank you.

this was the most intence afternoon of my life. the way these people care for their pumpkins. all i say is wow. the emotion was felt throughout my household. thank you to the many people who donated their time and energy to produce this amazing film.
