'Til The River Runs Clear tells the story of America's environmental flagship, the Clearwater, which has helped effect a remarkable grassroots transformation of the Hudson River over the last four decades. The Clearwater is a traditional wooden sloop that was launched by folk singer Pete Seeger 35 years ago to draw attention to the pollution of the Hudson River. The ship still sails today, serving as a moveable classroom, laboratory and stage.

Comments about PBS Til The River Runs Clear DVD:

Pete Seeger started with the idea that the Hudson River could and should be saved, a revolutionary idea in the 1960s. This little story shows how a few dedicated people can start something which eventually becomes important to the earth and millions of people.

Comments about PBS Til The River Runs Clear DVD:

I am the daughter of Vic Schwarz, one of the founders of Clearwater who is interviewed in this film. This excellent documentary tells the whole story of the birth of an incredible environmental project which continues to thrive and inspire today. It tells how two friends; one famous, one not, were able to recreate a piece of their community's history in a nearly impossible project, and then use it to affect major environmental change. Grassroots American environmental activism in it's purest form.
