Comments about PBS Air Group 16: We Came to Remember DVD:

We Came to Remember is the perfect documentary to honor the brave and dedicated men of Air Group Sixteen by documenting their last reunion as they get older and unable to travel as easily as they were able to travel in the past. Members of the air group tell the history making accounts of their combat experiences in WWII flying from the deck of the USS Lexington CV-16 including their part in the first Battle of the Philippine Sea on June 19, 1944. A book called, "Mission Beyond Darkness" was written about this battle. The pilots and gunners relate their experiences in combat with their stories of survival after being shot down by enemy firepower. Some of their stories were humorous when told by the victim. Their stories and the events of the final reunion were well documented by Drescher Films directed by award winning filmmaker Hugh Drescher. It was a great tribute to the members of Air Group Sixteen who accumulated a great WWII record. It is a fitting tribute to these old story telling men who contributed so much to our great victory of WWII.
