Comments about PBS Through Deaf Eyes DVD:

Coming from a hearing world, it was a very eye opening on how the deaf have viewed the world and their difficulties. I feel like I've come away with a much broader understanding of the deaf, their difficulties, their tenacity and that perhaps this information has made me a more enriched person.

Just like hearing people...

Comments about PBS Through Deaf Eyes DVD:

As a hearing person introduced to Deaf culture and the Deaf community rather late in life, I once also thought that Deaf people were just like me, they just couldn't hear.

As I began to learn about the issues discussed in this film, I came to realize that, yes, in many ways those blessed with ASL as their native language are like hearing people, but they are also very different in many important ways. But most of all, each is a unique, valuable individual. I really enjoyed this presentation and intend to share it with many of the people I know so they too can have a better understanding of this wonderful language and those for whom it is their preferred communication.
