Comments about PBS Through Deaf Eyes DVD:
As a hearing person introduced to Deaf culture and the Deaf community rather late in life, I once also thought that Deaf people were just like me, they just couldn't hear.
As I began to learn about the issues discussed in this film, I came to realize that, yes, in many ways those blessed with ASL as their native language are like hearing people, but they are also very different in many important ways. But most of all, each is a unique, valuable individual. I really enjoyed this presentation and intend to share it with many of the people I know so they too can have a better understanding of this wonderful language and those for whom it is their preferred communication.
Comments about PBS Through Deaf Eyes DVD:
I learned a great deal about Deaf culture and the history of deafness. Being the parent of a Deaf teenager it helped me to gain insight into a bit of his feelings and life. I would recommend this documentary to anyone interested in learning about the Deaf community.

Comments about PBS Through Deaf Eyes DVD:
I enjoy using this video to educate those that know I am a CODA, but not sure ho to talk about my parents and experiences. It was also very useful for a neighbor who adopted a deaf child, so that she could visualize what he could be when he grows up. I deducted a star because the editing does not always compliment the language of this culture. I also found the CC programmed onto this DVD has room for improvement.

I purchased this dvd for my fellow signers and myself..I found it very captivating and interesting. I feel that anyone who wishes to learn american sign language must first know and understand their culture.
