Watched only the last episode, but that was enough. For all the glorification of this empire in western world,it vividly presents the total picture of brutality,greed.pomposity and utter lack of humanity when it concerns those who are not, British or white. The last comment summed it up so well. Sun never sets on British empire but it never rises in British slums. Same could be said about the lands they pillaged and the cultures they hurt so deeply.

The British Empire in the 19th Century swung from noble optimism and virtuous vision to crude exploitation and appalling behavior, like a pendulum. But it ended up as a huge success. This series highlights the highs and lows and describes how the British Royal Family reacted and became the focus of reaction in a country that in the course of Victoria's reign experienced extraordinary social changes. For anyone interested in history this is compulsory viewing.
