Comments about PBS The War That Made America DVD 2PK:
This series is an interesting and thorough treatment of an oft overlooked period in colonial American history. The basic premise is that the French & Indian war (or the 7 years war) was really a series of events that steered the 13 colonies toward the American Revolution and thus launched the nation of The United States. As such, it is presented in a clear and convincing format of narritive over scenes created by period reenactors. While I generally am unimpressed by reenacting, this crew is very well assembled and decked out.
In closing, if you would like to know more about this era of our history, this is an excellent overview to start with. I'm glad it's in my library and am sure that I will be able to enjoy repeated viewings
Comments about PBS The War That Made America DVD 2PK:
A compelling and brilliantly executed document of North American colonial history. The use of historical sites as locations for shooting and Graham Greene's almost "You Are There" summation of important events were major contributions to this program's success. A wonderful aide to education as well as a satisfying survey of this little known, but central, historical period.

The DVD provided very indepth details of the way that G Washington and the French and Indian War shaped America's future path.

Bought this for my 14 year-old grandson who will be studying American History in school this fall. He liked it because it was full of action and wondered why he hadn't learned about this war before now.
