Having attended the 2011 Railfest in North Platte, where "A Canteen Experience" played a part, I can verify that these were truly special people. We watched The Canteen Spirit and then met several of the Canteen volunteers who are still with us, and they're as dear as humans can possibly be. Thank you, Canteen volunteers and communities, for setting a stellar example for generations to come.

It was amazing what the people in that area did for the troops in WWII. When you think of the rationing and roads at the time. Many of the volunteers drove many hours to get them. It will probably not happen again.
