I love the discs and watch them in my kitchen. i watched them, prior to purchasing, and thought...gee i need these to watch WHILE i'm cooking. julia's the all time best teacher for cooking!

It is great fun watching these old videos and seeing Julia play with food! There are many recipes worth trying and she still makes it all look do-able.

I'm sure many snickered while watching her show back then, but simultaneously felt much less anxiety about tackling, say, a Provencal dish with swordfish (set 2, disk 2, #4), if they had ever considered it at all! Typical for a pioneer, she has a rough-and-tumble persona- not what you'd expect for a master of "snooty" french cuisine. She's definitely not about exactness and perfection on the show- just watch her slice an onion! It's what we need to see so we'll think "Yes I can". But the sureness of her motions assures us she knows exactly what she's doing.
And though today we are focused more on light/health-conscious meals, foodies are always going to love the lush flavors of many of the dishes she presents.
