The only country to straddle two continents, Turkey offers a mysterious bridge between exotic Asian cultures and European modernity, perhaps best mirrored through its ancient cuisine, from stuffed foods such as Dolmas and Sarmas to its famous bread, Yufka. This fascinating documentary by food historian Bruce Kraig and his wife, director Jan Thompson, also visits carpet weavers, coppersmiths, and Whirling Dervishes.

Comments about PBS Hidden Turkey DVD:

This DVD needs greater length, more secenic places to see and less time spent on women doing village cooking.

GREAT INSIGHTS INTO PARTS OF TURKEY

Comments about PBS Hidden Turkey DVD:

If you are going to travel to Turkey, this is a must see. The food of Turkey is a reason to go. This traces some of its origins to the countryside. It spotlights the area on the Black Sea in one of its sections. Istanbul is not all that Turkey is about. I have been there twice and hope to return. This DVD in its general comments about Turkey and in its specific details is a great preview as to what to expect. Only regret is that it is only one hour.
