How did the universe become a place that could harbor life? NOVA presents some startling new answers in Origins, a new 4-part series. New clues from the frontiers of science are presented by astrophysicist Dr. Neil deGrasse Tyson. As the host of Origins, Tyson leads viewers on a journey to the beginning of time and to the depths of space, in search of the first stirrings of life and its traces on other worlds.

Simple but not dumbed-down

By Zak

Comments about PBS NOVA: Origins DVD:

I've heard Neil deGrasse Tyson speak on public radio before, so I knew he was great at explaining [potentially complicated] topics in an easy-to-understand way, I was just worried that the material would be dumbed-down or illustrated with examples that were aimed at children. I needn't have worried.
The whole 4-episode [2-DVD] series is delivered at a pace that doesn't put you to sleep, but doesn't make your brain hurt to keep up with it, either.

I borrowed this from my local library and now I'm going to buy a copy for my own collection.
