This film recounts the history of the 507th Parachute Infantry Regiment through battles in World War II and the culmination of its story 60 years later. Men from the 507th dropped into Normandy on D-Day and fought in several crucial engagements. After the war, the regiment was disbanded and its accomplishments nearly forgotten until 2002 when surviving members returned to Normandy to take part in events that gave completion to their story.

Imagine my surprise, as I was watching what seemed to be just another WWII documentary, when in the first frame of soldiers in the belly of a bomber, there was my very own dad staring back at me. This was an especially poignant gift to his daughter (me) from a total stranger; you see, he passed away at the age of 59 years in 1982. (I would love to know who provided the picture and would love to have a copy.) My husband and I, after much research are writing his experiences in WWII which are incredible. Robert "Bob" Lehrschall was one of the few who survived the Germans in the village of Graignes, France. For that and many other reasons, he is my hero!
