Single DVD

FRONTLINE spent months following three young girls who are growing up against the backdrop of their families' struggles against financial ruin. The result is an intimate portrait of the economic crisis as it's rarely seen, through the eyes of children. Poor Kids is an unflinching and revealing exploration of what poverty means to children, and to the country's future.

Comments about PBS FRONTLINE: Poor Kids DVD:

Even though you might not agree with the parent choices, you can't deny the fact that so many kids are facing these hardships- right here, right now in our country. Sad!

Comments about PBS FRONTLINE: Poor Kids DVD:

This is a truly engrossing documentary that chronicles the lives of several impoverished families here in the U.S., told from the perspective of children. As such, it makes for compelling storytelling. I am currently using this documentary with my high school seniors as an anticipatory activity for Barbara Ehrenreich's bestseller, "Nickel and Dimed." The students were glued to the screen during the showing; later, it provided a great whole-group discussion. Highly recommended.

This was one of the most powerful,gut-wrenching documentaries I've ever seen-and I make 'em for a living for the past quarter century. This should be required viewing of all 535 members of Congress.
