I am a registered nurse and this is one of the best series I've ever seen. It shows what real nursing can do even in the worst of circumstances.
It runs the whole gamut from romance and marriage to economic hardship and struggle. This is nursing before technology took it over.
You'll cry and laugh with the characters. A must for nursing students. This program reveals the true heart and nature of nursing.

My Great Grandmother was a midwife in rural Ontario Canada a century ago. I was born in 1951 basically as her "gift" had become obsolete. I love this production in every aspect. Since there is a return to midwifery, this beautifully crafted show has been a way to remind my grandaughters, that with all the options available vying for their future, they may have a hidden passion in their heritage worth looking into.

I just saw this program on TV last week. It was splendid. I have rarely seen a better BBC production. Please keep these programs coming. Masterpiece Playhouse is practically the only program worth seeing on TV these days.
