Comments about PBS The Perilous Fight: America's World War II in Color DVD:
This is a really nice WWII DVD. The film footage is great, the narrator is very nice with nothing grating about his voice.
Then there is my pet peeve. Why do documentaries these days 'refuse' to use past tense?
"Imhotep 'builds' the pyramids." No he not, he 'built' the pyramids. Saying he builds the pyramids would sound peculiar today or the day after he had finished. Everything that happened during WWII is in the past. There is absolutely nothing wrong with past tense. Using the wrong tense does not make me feel like I was there.

I teach 20th Century US History to juniors in high school. The Perilous Fight is outstanding. My kids love it. You can hear a pin drop in my classroom during the presentation, that's how good this is. Watching WW II in color is excellent...it brings home the realities of preparing for and fighting a war. The personal accounts of what people experienced in the war is moving, especially the letter that a GI wrote to his sons to read if he did not come home. Outstanding video...highly recommend this for high school or college classroom use.

I have seen this movie over and over again. The music, along with Martin Sheen's voice is one of a kind. A must see.

GOOD STARTER. LACKS HARD DETAILS AND SUFFERING CAUSED BY POLITICAL LEADERS WHO LACK OR ARE NOT CENSURED BY THE DUMBED DOWN CITIZENS. OTHER COUNTRIES HAVE NOT LEARNED FROM THIS AND FOLLOWING SAME PATH.
