When you see this amazing documentary you begin to understand what these explorers undertook and realise the benefit to all of America.
They were brave and daring and used their initiative to fulfill their task. They suffered but never gave up.
This story is told in such a way that we are left with seeing them as heroes.

I grew up in St.Louis and learned about Lewis & Clark early in my school years, so their travels were "old hat" and of no particular interest to me. I figured I had heard it all before. When Ken Burns came out with LEWIS & CLARK: THE JOURNEY... I figured I'd have a look just because it was a Ken Burns special, but I was hooked after the first episode!! I couldn't wait for the next and then the next, etc. What a documentary!! Why didn't my fifth grade teacher teach us like that? I might have enjoyed American History more than I did.

Only Ken Burns could do this film. It made my young nephews want to learn more about the things the Corps did on their journey. I highly reccomend it!

As always, Ken Burns does not dissappoint. Any fan of history will love this DVD. At times you forget you are viewing still photographs, ect. It is as captivating as watching a movie at the theater.
