Awsome period drama!

Comments about PBS Masterpiece: My Mother and Other Strangers DVD:

A must see! Well done with intreging characters and an interesting storyline that is not your ordinary drama! Only regret is that we can't run out and get the next DVD for additional episodes. We throughly enjoyed this intament snapshot of what life was like during the war for all involved.

So enjoyed this movie. I hated to see it end. Would like to see more stories. Maybe some would call this a
chick flick.

Liked it but...

Comments about PBS Masterpiece: My Mother and Other Strangers DVD:

Beautiful production and performances, but I am disappointed that there isn't a #6 episode; the conclusion wasn't definitive, and there is much to be traversed before the love affair can continue or die.

Getting there.

Comments about PBS Masterpiece: My Mother and Other Strangers DVD:

Hoping the next episodes will convince me that there is chemistry between Rose and Captain Dreyfus. Her husband, Michael, is much more interesting and better looking. From the start, I did not get hooked on that romantic connection. As for the history, there could be more plot lines about the conditions brought about by American forces stationed in Ireland, It is what drew me to the series but seems lacking. Were our troops really so disrespectful and obnoxious? I will stay with it as I have faith that Masterpiece will deliver.

I liked this series and found it intriguing.

Comments about PBS Masterpiece: My Mother and Other Strangers DVD:

The hurried nature of only five segments made the last night's program a bit confused and disconcerting. Too much was crammed in without explanation or resolution. Perhaps the series creator is hoping that it will be picked up and expanded next season: yes, that would be a good outcome. As it ended, well, how disappointing. Also, some incongruous things happened: after forbidding their daughter to attend a party with the 21 year old med student("he's 21 and she's 16!") in episode #4, in episode #5 he seems to be her regular beau and calls on her at home. No explanation. I also can't believe that the entire security of her husband , herself, and the three children, is falling down around her ears and all Rose can think of is running into a rainy night to find the young Cpt. Dreyfuss to say, "Don't ever leave me." Really? Not a good or satisfying ending, and disappointing display by two characters of which I expected better. Please continue the series and come to a more mature conclusion for all considered. It's unthinkable to see her react in such a childish way to an existential crisis. Not convincing, and not keeping with her character as demonstrated earlier.
