Comments about PBS US Navy: War in the Pacific DVD:
Naval battles near Japanese land based suicide flyers, naval strategy and action to liberate Philippines (Leyte), and the reasons for fighting in Burma and supporting the Chinese Nationalists graphically portray fights, as well as logistical support (reason for Burma). The last episode features the Air Transport Command and its daring pilots, medical corps challenges, and the Army engineers. This disc (1 of 4) totaling 75 minutes for three episodes makes the price well worth it.
Comments about PBS US Navy: War in the Pacific DVD:
Silent film portion offers historical documentation of training and society for seemingly 1930's or earlier. Midway's depiction has poor editing, although may reveal an alternative historical analysis. Aircraft carrier tour segment is excellent, well edited and narrated, but in the ilk of propaganda films.
