To say that this DVD of the acclaimed play The Phantom of the Opera is phantasmagorical is short of the actual experience. The photography and the lavishness of the production are truly outstanding. A better tribute to the 25th Anniversary of the production could not have been staged. I was awed by the singing, acting, stage craft, in all it was a truly phantasmagoric experience. The only better thing I can say is, this is the next best thing to seeing it live in the theatre. Kudos...

Comments about PBS The Phantom Of The Opera At The Royal Albert Hall DVD:

I've not been a fan of Opera and I've become a little jaded and hard to move in my old age, but this moved me! It's hard to see how this form of art could improve on the 25th anniversary presentation of The Phantom of the Opera. It reminds me of when I first saw Michelangelo's "David". I may not have been trained in sculpture, but I could identify it as something very special.
Even if you've never watched Opera I strongly recommend The Phantom of the Opera from Albert Hall. It's one of the most soul stirring presentations I've ever seen.

Comments about PBS The Phantom Of The Opera At The Royal Albert Hall DVD:

I liked the movie version with Gerard Butler and Emmy Rossum, but it was a movie with the focus being on movie stars for movie fans. This stage version is for the real Phantom freaks, the ones that want stage stars and true musical theater production and singing. This is a great cast and captures everything that's great about the music and stage production of the Phantom of the Opera. Absolutely spell binding from start to finish!!

Comments about PBS The Phantom Of The Opera At The Royal Albert Hall DVD:

Andrew Lloyd Weber's The Phantom of the Opera has become a true classic, in all the sense of the word. The 25th anniversary performance at Royal Albert Hall only enhances what has been performed for 25 years. The music, the performers, the costumes are beyond our imagination. For someone who does not own a production of "The Phantom" this is the one to own. You will watch it again and again because the first time around you will miss so much.
