I loved the new PBS presentation.. it was especially good to see Mark Addy on TV again.
He's always been a favorite of mine... ever since
he appeared in a series on American TV... he's charming,funny, AND versitile...Masterpiece Theatre did a fantastic job of relating Dickens'
most moving classic.... all my high school students loved the book... looking forward to
seeing more Dickens on TV.

Having just read the originial Dickens, I may have been expecting too much from the movie. It was credible acting and captured some of the magic from the book but I suppose it would take too much time to come close to recreating the Dickens original storytelling. The Dickens humor was largely lost in translation. Still worth watching.

The young Pip and the older Pip play their part wonderfully. Gullian Anderson was somewhat of a real nut case. It's hard to believe that people lived that way or if they did or do they now? It's interesting to watch but not something I would watch again.

A wonderful story, told very well . . . only wish the ending was less abrupt . . . at least let them walk away into the sunset or like.

My book club and I watched this, and we all totally enjoyed it. Costumes and scenery were done so very well. Made the book come alive.
