Comments about PBS The Story of China with Michael Wood DVD:

I thought I knew Chinese history until I watched the "Story of China", and then I found out details that I never knew, in the life story of emperors of China. It is a vivid and well-laid out story of China and her people, from antiquity to modern era.

Comments about PBS The Story of China with Michael Wood DVD:

Michael Wood unspools the thread of this complex country's history with great scholarly enthusiasm and in such flowing language that the narrative easily sweeps you off your feet. Gorgeously filmed and superbly edited, I've just watched the first two hours, and already wished the next two hours were shown tomorrow. Before the next episodes are shown, I'll read about them on the website, to better understand people's names and locations on the map (I am learning Mandarin, which helps decipher names here and there). This series is not to be missed, especially if you are thinking of visiting China. For me, this masterpiece is a catalyst for studying with renewed passion!
